Silver Jubilee Stadium to Get New Track

Silver Jubilee Stadium in Bird Rock will soon get a facelift for the facility?s fifth anniversary.
Director in the Ministry of Sports Dave Connor said the material for the new track was already on the island and he was hopeful work would begin soon, which is excellent news for residents living in NEVIS REAL ESTATE.
Connor said it would take approximately 1 week to strip the old track, and two weeks to lay the new one. Once the work gets started at the end of January the facility should be ready in time for the start of the 2013 athletic season.
He added that he could not commit to a completion date for the laying of the new track surface, since it would depend on when the work started. He did say that the Ministry was looking at a ?back up plan? in the event that alternative venues had to be used.
?We have discussed the issue with the relevant stakeholders and are looking at suitable alternatives for the national meets, however we are really hopeful that work will begin by the end of this week and we will be able to meet the deadline.? he concluded.
