The laying of the new track began on Feb. 14Th, and the process is scheduled to be completed by this month end.
Minister of Sports, Hon. Glenn Phillip, said that the new track would provide opportunities for the Federation?s young athletes, some of who live in NEVIS REAL ESTATE.
?We're saying that we have to support our own. There is a lot of raw talent out there whose skills could be honed as a result of getting a new track. We appeal to people, especially parents, to support their children in whatever endeavors they pursue in relation to athletics at this time.?
?This new track has a 10-year warranty,? Minister Phillip said, adding that scientists from Mondo are puzzled as to why the previous surface degraded so quickly.
"So what we have done is changed color from the old track, which was a reddish clayish color, to a blue and grey track. We want to see if what happened to the old track will happen to the new track, and we hope it won't.? He concluded-
