Agriculture Department Celebrates 20 Years of Open Day

The crowds turned up throughout the day last Thursday, April 25th, to join officials and industry stakeholders to celebrate the 20th hosting of the Department of Agriculture?s Open Day.
Agriculture Minister Hon. Nigel Carty said it was with an immense sense of pride over the achievements in the industry and the transformation brought about by the government over the past few years, that he welcomed the invited guests and patrons to the two-day event, some of who live in NEVIS REAL ESTATE.
Event Organizer Ian Chapman of the DoA said the event was being held under the same theme as this year?s Annual Review and Planning Meeting ?Embrace the Change, Face the Challenge, Maximize the Opportunities?.He said the Department is trying to encourage farmers to get on-board with the new technologies in farming to increase their production and profits and in some cases make their work easier.
In conclusion, the Minister said, ?The Ministry congratulates the present Director Thomas Jackson and his staff as well as former Directors and staff members of the Department of Agriculture who have made and are continuing to make sterling contributions to the development of the agriculture sector here in the federation.?
